Monoethylene glycol is primarily sold to customers in North America for use in making products such as polyester fibers, plastic drinking bottles, adhesives and inks. Styrene monomer is sold to customers in North America for the manufacture of a variety of commercial and consumer products such as cassette/CD cases, food containers, home insulation, safety helmets and car interiors. The site also manufactures styrene monomer and monoethylene glycol (MEG). A portion of the CO2 generated by the upgrading facility is captured and stored sub-surface. The Shell facility produces the full range of fuels, synthetic crudes and sulfur for the Western Canadian market. Scotford is a joint chemicals/refining site, with an adjoining bitumen upgrader.
